Keep FIT this Fall!

By FIT BLOG 0

Raise your hand if it’s dark out when you get up in the morning! Raise your hand if it’s dark out when you get home in the evening? Raise your hand if you’d rather sit on your nice warm couch than put on layers and go out in the cold?

Yup, we get it! We’re all there! We know how hard it is this time of year especially to get yourself out to class, but we know how much better you always feel after having that FIT Reaction! Mr. Ray has put together some tips to keep you going and to keep you coming to class!

Make your fitness plan for the week and schedule your classes ahead of time! It’s easy to say “Nah, I’m not really in the mood” if you haven’t already scheduled/paid for the class. If it’s already part of your plan, you’ll be more likely to go.

Tell someone- your trainer, your BFF, your dog, anyone- what your fitness plan is for the week. You don’t want to skip the gym and have your dog look at you that way when you walk in the door early ;). But really, you’ll have more accountability after you’ve told others what your plans are.

Grab a friend and drag them with you! As we always say at FIT RxN, “Friends don’t let friends sweat alone!” If you’re going together you can drag each other just in case someone is feeling a little less motivated.

Pay attention to how you are fueling your body! Your body is your most important machine. It needs healthy food to keep it moving well. Load up with a lot of crap and you will run just like that old jalopy that your friend drove in high school.

Find healthier alternatives to those comfort foods you want when it’s cold and snowy. Yes, mac and cheese, lasagna, grilled cheese all sound great on a snowy day. Learn how to make pasta from vegetables, cauliflower bread or find other foods that warm your belly and your heart in the same way. You’ll feel less sluggish and have fewer cravings if you keep things a little lighter.

Keep moving! We’re city people and when it’s freezing out it’s hard to do all that walking we’re so used to. Start using the stairs at work or at home (if you don’t already), make a few extra trips to check your mail or just to see what the stairs look like a few floors up or down. Sitting around will make your back hurt, your hips tight and make you feel more tired. Moving around will give you a little kick of energy and help to stretch that gorgeous body out.
