What do you like most about working out at FIT RxN?
I love that the classes are relatively small and each class becomes almost a personalized workout. I like that the instructors provide different variations of the same exercise so everyone in the class gets challenged to their own level. I also love the variety of the classes and that they never become repetitive. There is always a new exercise to learn and improve on.
Do you have specific fitness goals? Have they changed at all?
I started going to FIT RxN classes about 5 years ago. During that time my workout routine was mainly focused on running and I was only doing one class per week. In 2014, I signed up for the NYC marathon (my first marathon), so I rapidly began increasing my mileage per week and got injured half way through my training program. The doctor told me that my muscles were not strong enough to support the extra miles I was adding to my training. He recommended on cutting back on one day of running and adding one more day of strength training to my routine. So I started going to classes more regularly and the improvement was immediate. Not only I was able to recover the lost time due to the injury but I was also able to run the marathon as planned. All this experience made me realize the importance of keeping a more balanced workout program in order to remain healthy. It’s not only about quantity but also about quality.
Are you (or your friends) noticing any changes in yourself since you started taking classes?
I definitively feel a LOT stronger. My running times have improved immensely. My last half marathon race was almost 10min faster than my previous races. Now I have the confidence that I can push myself harder without getting injured. Also, my recovery time after races, runs and classes has improved a lot.
What is your proudest moment so far in a class at FIT RxN?
The day that I was able to finish a class without stopping. Not an easy task that I can accomplish all the time because the classes are always challenging no matter how often I go.
What’s the next thing you’d like to accomplish at FIT RxN?
To always continue to push harder and be able to keep up.
What is your favorite class at FIT RxN?
It is hard to pick a favorite, but I guess I like the faster pace classes, like the TRX Cardio and the Smoker. They are the hardest but the most rewarding at the end.
