What do you like most about working out at FIT RxN?
I run global PR and social media for a luxury professional haircare brand so I’m always on the go and have a million things on my plate. Whether I’m coordinating a hair stylist team for New York Fashion Week, doing a media tour with our celebrity spokesperson, developing press kits to be translated into Portuguese for a Brazil event, brainstorming new ways to reach influencers and VIPs or answering emails at 5:00 a.m. (before heading to class!) from Australia and the Netherlands – my mind is constantly racing with everything that’s going on. But, when I’m at FIT, all of that goes away for an hour while I do nothing but focus on not embarrassing myself too badly and/or not throwing up.
Do you have specific fitness goals? Have they changed at all?
Yes, in no particular order:
- I would love a rapper to write a song about my body. Ok, I’ll settle for one verse.
- I would like the option to become an Instagram thot.
- I would like to pursue a side hustle as Zac Efron’s body double.
In all seriousness, I came to FIT via ClassPass after completing 10 weeks of physical therapy for my bum knee. At the time, I was just looking for a workout to replace running (which I was doing about 2-3x a week). Now, I look forward to pushing myself, whether it’s doing a new move on the TRX bands or not biting Mr. Ray when he doubles my weight on a sandbag move.
Are you (or your friends) noticing any changes in yourself since you started taking classes?
Because I have to work out in the morning (and because the workout is so intense and requires so much physically and mentally), FIT has made me much more responsible – if I have class the next day, you can bet I will be going to sleep early, skipping wine (well, a little wine) and will be doing extra stretching. It’s been a positive lifestyle / mindset shift. Recently, I got together with an acquaintance that I hadn’t seen in about a year, the first thing out of her mouth was “wow, you’re lookin’ buff these days!”
What is your proudest moment so far in a class at FIT RxN?
The first class in which I didn’t accidentally punch myself in the face during boxing.
What’s the next thing you’d like to accomplish at FIT RxN?
Getting the technique and form down in boxing is an ongoing process. Also, continuing to improve my endurance and trying not to take any breaks (especially in the longer sets).
What is your favorite class at FIT RxN?
I don’t have a favorite class; I love the variety offered by each of the instructors. But, I will say, I am convinced Mr. Ray takes crazy pills before teaching the 7:00 a.m. Smoker.
